Consigli cinematografici: Now, Voyager
If you’re Bette Davis fans (I understand it is a bit unlikely in 2015, but you know that I have a thing for movie stars from the 40’s and the 50’s), you can not miss this movie, “Now, Voyager” for which she received one of her eleven Oscar nominations as Best Actress (hey, she is one of the greatest actresses of all times, after all)
The plot is very dramatic, a young girl is driven to a nervous breakdown from her mother, so she goes for a cruise to recover and she flourishes as a woman, also having an affair with a married man that anyway leads her to self-fulfillment. The movie was much appreciated at the time, since it talked about uncommon issues back in 1942, such as women’s empowerment, mental health during adolescence and adultery.
The final scese is the most popular one: Paul Henreid lights two cigarettes and he gives one to Bette, and she says: “Oh, Jerry, don’t let’s ask for the moon. We have the stars.”
Her dresses after her “transformation”(into a glamorous woman) are amazing
And like in many old movies there are at least two shots of shoes!
