Movies: ladies of the night

SLEEPING BEAUTY (2011)

It is based in part on the novel “The House of the Sleeping Beauties” of Japanese Nobel Prize writer Yasunari Kawabata. A very beautiful girl accepts the strange proposal to play the part of Sleeping Beauty, which means to be dragged in a state of unconsciousness and sexually satisfy customers so that they can do what they want with her.

JEUNE ET JOLIE (2013)

Written and directed by François Ozon, with the wonderful Marine Vacth (the most beautiful woman in the world, in my opinion) as the protagonist in the role of a seventeen year old who decides to become a prostitute. A nice movie!

BELLE DE JOUR (1967)

Timeless French classic directed by Luis Bunuel and starring Catherine Deneuve. Based on the novel by Joseph Kessel, the film tells the story of a married woman who prostitutes herself while her husband is at work (hence “belle de jour”, because she works during the day, as opposed to prostitutes, also called “ladies of the night “).
